Darla, ever one to flaunt her knowledge of this and that, flouted the forum guidelines and was summarily booted, whereupon she flounced out of the chat room, declaring that everyone would truly miss her and her words of wisdom.

The mind's amazing, dear snowbird.
Such terms, heard somewhere at some time, lie dormant in the mind, but, upon rising to the brain's frontal realms, could never be uttered by lips of gentle folk as a hurtful insult . . .
I read that it can mean a slave driver, as in Mr. Cracker cracks his whip!
NEW THINGS LEARNED!
Love,

Good morning, Friends!
At school, yesterday morning, I tried to inject a little humor into the classroom by expounding on what I felt was the raison d'etre behind teacher's pet project: the use of handkerchiefs througout history. Scowling enormously, Mr. Doakes felt there had been both a sizeable infringement upon his authority and an encroachment upon his dignity; he did forthwith eject me from class and said never to return . . .
I cried hugely into my hankie. . . .

snowbird: !
When proofreading and editing for writers, I encourage them to use verbs in their sentences; often, the sentences in question describe no action or state of being. In addition, I advise against overuse of adverbs. Sometimes, too, conjunctions may be left out to create a particular effect: I came, I saw, I conquered.

Hello, Friends!
I endeavor, whenever I wear my worsted wool suit, to whistle a happy tune because I cannot help but be lured into a patch of thistle once I have found myself nattily attired. Jumping in with all fours is my peculiar, unexplained wont. I love the feel of nettles on my tough hide, but it's quite the chore for my long-suffering dry cleaner's operator.
He just smiles, and whistles a happy tune . . .

Here, in the USA, we call them potato chips, so we would never say "bet you can't each just one crisp!' No matter, because they are crispy and crunchy on either side of the big pond, unless, of course, the bag topples into the sea and the distraught muncher declares them to be, henceforth, "potato soggs"!
